Meet our Board of Directors.
The Krabbenhoft Family relocated to Charleston in 2013 from Washington state. Kevin works for Boeing and Sherra is a full time mom to their five children. Their heart is to see those in ministry built up through rest and counsel. They love helping to connect people.
Yvonne Howe joined her daughter Sherra and her family in Charleston in 2015. For many years she worked as the associate director of an international prayer and counseling ministry. She has had the opportunity to teach, counsel and pray with Christian laymen and leaders both in the US and numerous places in the Middle East, Central America, and Asia
Carla Alford joined the ministry of The Gathering Place in 2015. She had the privilege of traveling to Mali in 2016 to visit friends serving as missionaries there. The experience of participating in missions has given her a clearer understanding of God’s heart for the lost. She witnessed the opportunities and obstacles missionaries face daily.
God has given Carla a passion to pray for people. She has been able to use her experience in Mali coupled with some training from the Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center and other resources in ministry at The Gathering Place. Her heart is to encourage others to be all God has created them to be.
Christopher McCormick, originally from Richmond, VA, moved to Charleston in 2004 and works as a historical restoration contractor. His greatest passion is to serve others, and has a heart for the Men’s Ministry at his church. “The Gathering Place is such an important ministry, serving those who serve others, and I’m excited to see how God will continue to open doors in the Charleston area to offer rest and healing to those who so faithfully serve to further His kingdom.” Through the ministry of The Gathering Pace, Christopher hopes others will feel led to serve ministry workers. “Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work. And live peacefully with each other.” 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13.
Lisa Steward has lived in Charleston since 1990, and has served as a host for The Gathering Place at her Johns Island guest cottage since 2019. “The greatest blessing of hosting ministry workers is to hear their stories, see how the Lord has worked in and through their lives, and witness the power of rest and renewal.” Lisa has two daughters, one of which she homeschools and the other who is a graduate of Belmont University. The verse that speaks to her most about hosting is, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” -1Peter 4:10.
Becky Dennis lives in Charleston, SC and attended Grace on the Ashley Church on Bees Ferry. She has worked at Kiawah Island Utility, Inc. for the past 43 years. She has 3 living children, 10 grands and 4 great-grandchildren. She started doing international mission work in Romania in 1997 and continued annually until 2015. She served on the Jesse Powers Evangelistic Board for more than 18 years and has always had a heart for missions. She has been actively involved with the local Water Mission organization since their start up 23 years ago. She strives for others to recognize that our Mission Field is only a step away from where we are right now. She fell in love with the Mission mindedness and emphasis on prayer that is the center of the Heart of the Gathering Place. Reaching beyond self is vital to the ministry and coming along side of pastors and missionaries to provide them a resource to re-energize and find refreshment and rest. I love being a part of this amazing ministry and look forward to serving.
